Shannon Harvey
The piece I have created for the Uninvited Project is inspired by the character of the flute girl. The flute girl is described as still as stone, and in other places as becoming liquid stone. The various materials of earth found throughout the text suggest to me mutability and the possibility of change. The struggle we have as individuals is to break through the rigidity of established forms and ideas, to turn them from solid into liquid. It is the music of the flute player that is the transforming force, regenerating flow and inviting new movement.
